Executive Biographies
Michael Payne, Founder and Executive Chairman of the Board of Directors
Michael Payne heads a world-class executive team experienced in delivering breakthrough mechanical design solutions. Prior to taking the helm at SpaceClaim, Mr. Payne was Chief Executive Officer of Spatial Corp. and, before that, Chief Technology Officer of Dassault Systèmes. Mr. Payne was a co-founder of SolidWorks and served as Executive Vice President of Research and Development for the company from 1994 to 1999. Prior to 1994, Mr. Payne was a founder and former Vice President of Development for Parametric Technology Corporation (PTC). Prior to joining PTC, he was the director of CAD development at Prime Computer. Mr. Payne brings more than 30 years of experience in the CAD/CAM/CAE industry to SpaceClaim Corp. Mr. Payne holds a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from the University of Southampton, a master's in physics from London University, and a master's in business administration from Pace University.

John Benger, Chief Financial Officer and Chief Operating Officer
John brings 30 years of broad leadership experience to his role as Chief Financial Officer and Chief Operating Officer, responsible for the Company’s finance, human resources, legal and administrative functions. His background includes domestic and international positions managing finance, administration, operations, consulting and customer support. His expertise in growing companies and restructuring operating entities to profitability has benefited a broad range of public and private technology companies, including Data General Corp., Draeger, Inc., Werner Co., CoCreate and Dassault Systemes, Inc. John earned his MBA from New Hampshire College and completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Bloomsburg.

Rich Moore, Vice President of Sales
Rich Moore imparts successful executive leadership, including CAD/CAM and CAE sales expertise, to his role as Vice President of Sales at SpaceClaim. Prior to joining SpaceClaim, Mr. Moore was President and CEO of IDe, Product Portfolio Management, from inception in 1998 until 2005. Previously, as Vice President and General Manager of the Americas for Computervision Corporation, he helped increase the CAD/CAM company’s revenue by 50 percent, leading to its acquisition by Parametric Technology Corp. (PTC) for $550 million. Earlier, at MSC Software Corp., Mr. Moore helped the publicly traded company achieve a 35 percent market share in the competitive CAE market segment. He has also held senior management posts at Alias Research and Aries Technology. He has served on the board of MIT’s Center for Innovation in Product Development and as Vice Chair of the Product Development Management Association Supplier Advisory Council. Mr. Moore earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Lindenwood University.

Daniel Dean, Vice President of Research and Development
Daniel Dean leads a team of world-class engineers dedicated to new technical innovation in 3D mechanical design. Mr. Dean is responsible for all aspects of SpaceClaim product development, including research, product definition, development, quality assurance, documentation, and release. Previously, Mr. Dean was a co-founder of Parametric Technology Corp. (PTC), where he pioneered parametric feature-based solid modeling, which has formed the basis of all major 3D CAD systems since. As Vice President of Mechanical Applications at PTC, he led the team responsible for developing the data model, architecture, and functional logic of all end-user deliverables across multiple product lines, from parts and assemblies to manufacturing, sketching, and cabling. Prior to joining PTC in 1985, Mr. Dean was introduced to 3D CAD/CAM as a software engineer at Applicon. Mr. Dean holds a bachelor's of science degree in mechanical engineering and a master’s in engineering from Cornell University.
